Dr. Suman De Sarkar was born in Kolkata, India. After finishing B.Sc. from University of Calcutta and M.Sc. from Indian IIT Kanpur he joined the research group of Prof. Armido Studer at Westfälische Wilhelms-University Muenster where he obtained his Ph.D. in November 2010. Afterwards he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the laboratories of Prof. Karl Gademann at the University of Basel and in the research group of Prof. Lutz Ackermann as an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow at Georg-August-University, Goettingen. In October 2015, he joined IISER Kolkata as an Assistant Professor and, in January 2025, was promoted to the post of Professor.
